Li has rescued many of these children from the city streets by negotiating
with their parents and bosses, and setting up sponsorship for the children to
return to fulltime education in their own villages.
Home Visits
Older
children have been kept in sheltered accommodation in the city, with their parents’ full
cooperation and knowledge, where they are schooled in the Chinese language,
Maths, English and computing. Some have taken vocational training in electrical
work, refrigerator, and air conditioning maintenance, I.T. courses, and driving.
All this is aimed at getting these youngsters into work, as lack of education
is the biggest barrier to any future employment.
The purpose is to visit
poor children in their villages, to assess their situation and provide
sponsorship to complete their primary/secondary education. To give
assistance to their families by sending parcels of clothes, shoes, books,
and small monetary gifts, as well as paying any medical bills.
